What Do Moms Do? Author Amy Houts
Amy is an award-winning author of over 60 books, including: Dora the Explorer Safety, Think Like a Scientist, and Down on the Farm. Her numerous short stories, nonfiction articles, and poems have appeared in Ladybug Magazine, Lollypops, and American Profile Magazine. Amy won first place in the Missouri Writers’ Guild Major Work Award for Cooking Around the Calendar with Kids: Holiday and Seasonal Food and Fun. Writing What Do Moms Do? with her daughter, Emily Bush, has been a highlight of Amy's career. Amy minored in early childhood education and worked as a graduate assistant in the early childhood center at Northwest Missouri State University. Teaching preschool at HeadStart provided inspiration and an understanding of young children. She lives with her husband, Steve, in rolling countryside of Missouri with their dog, Gina. The daughter of Amy Houts, Emily has worked with Amy on a number of writing projects, including Mealtime Magic: Delicious Dinners in Half the Time. Writing What Do Moms Do? with her own mom was a fun project. Emily and her husband, Nick, live in Iowa with their twin boys.
What Do Moms Do? Illustrator Lisa Thiesing
Lisa Thiesing is an award-winning author and illustrator of over 40 wonderful books for children. She is a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York with a BFA in illustration. Lisa also earned her Montessori degree in early childhood education from the Bank Street College. This gives her a unique understanding of how to make picture books and "easy readers" that are both fun and educational. Lisa lives in New York State with her husband, dog, and cats.
